Van Nistelrooy urges Leicester City to maintain intensity ahead of Everton clash
Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has called on his team to maintain maximum effort as they prepare to face Everton this weekend. The Foxes head into their final Premier League visit to Goodison Park on Saturday fresh from a crucial victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Facing a side just one place above them in the league standings, Leicester has everything to play for at Merseyside. However, Van Nistelrooy insists his squad remains focused and committed despite the recent win.
“I don’t feel a difference in the intensity in training after the win. We’ve been training in a way that demands those standards are always there,” Van Nistelrooy said.
“We’ve shown some very good performances. In that sense, we’re stable and good, and rightly so because the next week starts, and we’re preparing ourselves to the maximum. Training is always at that level.”
The Dutchman emphasized the significance of their away win against Spurs, highlighting Leicester’s defensive organization and attacking quality.
“Three points away from home is big for us with where we are in the league,” he added. “Against Spurs, what you saw was a very organized team that defended well, stayed compact, and showed what we can do on the ball. Scoring two goals away against a team like them was a great achievement.”
Van Nistelrooy’s fond memories of Goodison Park
Having scored five goals in five visits to Goodison Park during his playing days, Van Nistelrooy understands the unique atmosphere of the historic stadium. He also acknowledged the positive impact David Moyes has made since returning as Everton manager, winning two of his first three games.
“It’s a classic in English football. If you want to show a person from abroad what an English football stadium and atmosphere is like, Goodison Park is a perfect example,” he said. “The old stands, the character, and the closeness to the pitch make it a special venue with a lot of history.”
Despite the hostile atmosphere, Van Nistelrooy is confident that Leicester’s experienced squad can handle the challenge.
“In every away game in the Premier League, the crowd is a factor, but with the experience we have in our team, we are able to handle that,” he added.
Leicester will look to build on their recent momentum and secure another vital victory in their fight for league stability.
