Barca and Madrid legends excited to face off in Mumbai
Football legends from Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, including Luis Figo, Carles Puyol, Fernando Morientes, and Ricardo Quaresma, are set to bring the magic of one of football’s greatest rivalries to Mumbai in the much-anticipated Legends Faceoff. The match will take place at the 55,000-capacity DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 6.
Football legends express excitement
Luis Figo, the 2000 Ballon d’Or winner who played for both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, is thrilled about playing in front of Indian fans.
“India, I know you love football, and I can’t wait to bring the magic to Mumbai. Let’s make this an unforgettable night!” said Figo.
Carles Puyol, Barcelona’s legendary defender and former captain, is equally eager.
“India, I’ve seen your passion for football from afar—now it’s time to witness it up close. Can’t wait to feel the energy in Mumbai!” Puyol said.
Fernando Morientes, a prolific goal-scorer and key part of Real Madrid’s dominance in the late 90s and early 2000s, also expressed his excitement.
“I’ve played in some of the most electric stadiums in the world, and now it’s time to experience India’s football madness. See you soon, Mumbai!” said Morientes.
Ricardo Quaresma, known for his flair and creativity, was part of Portugal’s UEFA Euro 2016-winning squad and has played for top clubs like Barcelona and Porto.
“I’ve heard incredible things about football fans in India. Excited to finally experience it in Mumbai!” Quaresma said.
Barcelona Legends’ previous visit to India
This is not the first time the Barcelona Legends are visiting India. They last played in Kolkata on September 29, 2018, where they secured a 6-0 victory against a team of Mohun Bagan veterans.
