National Karting Championship: Rivaan Dev Preetham shines in Mini Max, sets lap record
Chennai’s Rivaan Dev Preetham (MSPORT) stole the spotlight at the MECO-FMSCI National Karting Championship Rotax Max Classes as he dominated the Mini Max category in Round 4 at the Meco Kartopia circuit. The 12-year-old schoolboy not only secured victory in all his sessions — two Heats, Pre-Final, and Final — but also set a track lap record of 57.991 seconds around the 1.2 km circuit in the Pre-Final.
With the clean sweep, Rivaan extended his lead on the leaderboard, now 32 points ahead of Faridabad’s Yatharth Gaur (Leapfrog Racing). His stellar performance has also booked him a spot at the RMC Grand Finals in Bahrain later this year.
In the Senior Max category, Mumbai’s Krish Gupta (Rayo Racing) clinched victory in the Finals, upstaging championship leader Ishaan Madesh (Peregrine Racing) of Bengaluru, who finished fourth after dominating the earlier sessions. Gupta, starting fifth on the grid, stormed through to win, with Arjun Vijay Chheda (Crest Motorsports, Pune) finishing second and Aahil Mecklai (Rayo Racing, Mumbai) in third.
The Junior Max class was ruled by Pune’s Arafath Sheikh (Crest Motorsports), who won both the Pre-Final and the Final, cutting into the lead of Chennai’s Eshanth Vengatesan (MSPORT). In the Micro Max category, Bengaluru’s Shiv Tummala (Peregrine Racing) sealed top honours by winning both races.
With strong performances across categories, the championship leaders — Rivaan (Mini Max), Eshanth (Junior Max), and Ishaan (Senior Max) — have all been nominated for the Bahrain Grand Finals scheduled from November 29 to December 6.
