Baloch rights body slams Pakistan for rising enforced disappearances

A prominent Baloch human rights organization has condemned the Pakistani government for escalating the wave of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, calling the actions a “crime against humanity.”

The Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, Paank, reported on Monday that seven more Baloch individuals have been forcibly taken by security forces in recent days. The group said the disappearances reflect a systematic campaign of repression by the state.

Among the recent victims is Waqas Baloch from Mastung, who was reportedly abducted from his home on Sunday. Paank also highlighted the May 18 abductions of Naveed Baloch in Gwadar and Advocate Atta Ullah Baloch in Mastung.

Other incidents include Shah Nawaz Baloch, called to a military camp in Awaran and then detained, and Ameen Ullah Baloch, who was abducted in Kalat on May 17. On the same day, 13-year-old Fiaz Ali from Naseerabad also went missing.

Earlier, Niaz Ali, a landlord from Naseerabad, was reportedly taken by force from Kalat. These cases add to at least five others reported between April and May.

“Victims are seized without legal process, and their families are left in the dark,” Paank said, adding that enforced disappearances must be treated as crimes under international law.

The group has urged the United Nations and international human rights organizations to demand Pakistan end these actions and release all forcibly disappeared individuals.
