Balochistan not Pakistan, say Baloch activists
Baloch activists across the globe are intensifying calls to end Pakistan’s repressive policies in Balochistan amid ongoing enforced disappearances in the province.
Mir Yar Baloch, a human rights activist, posted on X, “Balochistan is not Pakistan and the world can’t be a silent spectator anymore.”
Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, reported that five more individuals were forcibly disappeared between April and May 2025 across several districts. Victims include Shah Jan from Turbat, Ali Ahmed from Awaran, Ahmed Khan from Mastung, Zabid Ali from Chaghi, and Tahir Baloch from Kech.
The group highlighted that these detentions occurred without due legal process, and families remain unaware of their loved ones’ fate.
Paank urged the United Nations and international human rights bodies to recognize these disappearances as crimes against humanity and hold perpetrators accountable.
In March 2025 alone, 181 cases of enforced disappearances were reported across 15 districts, including Quetta and Qalat, according to Paank’s latest human rights report.
