PM Modi’s positive remarks, expresses willingness to work with India

China has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent “positive remarks” on China-India relations, affirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries.

In a recent conversation with US-based podcaster Lex Fridman, PM Modi emphasized that cooperation between India and China is essential for global stability and prosperity. He stressed the importance of dialogue to resolve differences and advocated for healthy competition instead of conflict.

“Dialogue is the key to building a stable and cooperative relationship that benefits both nations,” PM Modi said.

Responding to PM Modi’s remarks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday, “We appreciate Prime Minister Modi’s recent positive remarks on China-India relations. Last October, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi met successfully in Kazan and provided strategic guidance for improving and developing China-India relations.”

Mao highlighted that both sides have made progress in strengthening exchanges and practical cooperation, achieving a series of positive results. She also underscored the historical exchanges between the two nations over the past 2,000 years, emphasizing the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation.

“As the two largest developing countries, it is in the fundamental interests of both nations to support each other’s development and revitalization,” Mao said. “China is willing to work with India to thoroughly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote cooperation at all levels.”

PM Modi also addressed ongoing border disputes, noting that tensions from 2020 have begun to ease following his recent meeting with President Xi. He expressed optimism that trust and stability would gradually return, fostering a more cooperative relationship.

Mao concluded by stating that China remains committed to working with India to advance relations along a “healthy and stable track.”
