EAM Jaishankar to Attend SCO Meeting in Pakistan

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will lead the Indian delegation at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of Governments meeting in Islamabad on October 15-16, the External Affairs Ministry (MEA) announced.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed Jaishankar’s participation during a weekly media briefing in New Delhi, although he noted there are currently no details on any potential bilateral engagements during the visit.

Pakistan extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the meeting, which is standard protocol for host countries. However, political analyst Kamran Yousaf suggested that Modi is unlikely to attend.

Last year, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited India for the SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
