India advises nationals in UAE to stay vigilant amid security situation

The Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi on Thursday issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals in the United Arab Emirates to remain vigilant, stay calm, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities amid the evolving regional security situation.

In its advisory, the Embassy stated that UAE airspace and regular scheduled flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to prevailing security concerns. However, limited non-scheduled flights operated by Indian and UAE airlines have resumed to various destinations in India, subject to operational and safety clearances from relevant authorities. Stranded Indian nationals have been advised to contact their respective airlines to avail themselves of these services.

“In view of the prevailing situation in the United Arab Emirates and the region, all Indian nationals currently in the UAE are advised to continue to remain vigilant, calm, adhere to the safety guidelines of the UAE authorities, and follow official advisories issued from time to time,” the Embassy said.

The mission confirmed that its consular services, along with those of the Consulate General of India, Dubai, remain fully operational. Outsourced passport, visa, and consular service centers are also functioning normally. Helpline numbers have been released for Indian nationals seeking assistance or clarification.

For visitors stranded in the UAE since February 28 whose visas have expired, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security has announced a waiver of overstay fines. The exemption applies to tourist and visit visa holders unable to depart due to the extraordinary circumstances.

The advisory emphasized that the Government of India places the highest priority on the safety and well-being of Indians abroad and is closely monitoring developments at the highest levels. Embassy and consular officials remain in regular contact with UAE authorities and Indian community leaders to ensure the welfare of Indian nationals.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defence reported that its air defense systems intercepted three ballistic missiles and detected 129 drones in a recent wave of attacks. Of these, 121 drones were intercepted while eight fell within the country. Since the start of the Iranian offensive, authorities have detected 189 ballistic missiles—175 were destroyed, 13 fell into the sea, and one landed within UAE territory. Additionally, 941 drones have been identified, with 876 intercepted, and eight cruise missiles destroyed.
