
India highlights digital, space, and sustainability goals at BRICS meet
India reaffirmed its commitment to digital innovation, sustainability, and space technology at the 11th BRICS Communication Ministers’ Meeting held in Brazil.
Representing India, Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani showcased India’s progress in digital infrastructure like Aadhaar and UPI, 4G/5G development, and domestic manufacturing. He also stressed collaboration on emerging technologies such as 6G, quantum tech, and satellite communications.
India discussed deeper digital ties with Brazil and South Africa, focusing on areas like UPI-based payments, telecom security, and digital public infrastructure. Pemmasani noted that India’s tech strides drew praise from other BRICS nations.
The meeting emphasized building an inclusive, sustainable digital future among the expanded 11-nation BRICS group.
