India-Norway marine pact spotlighted at Monaco ocean summit

India and Norway showcased their marine spatial planning (MSP) collaboration during a high-level event aboard the Norwegian tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl in Monaco, marking World Ocean Day.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s commitment to a resilient Blue Economy and the success of MSP pilots in Puducherry and Lakshadweep. He also launched the SAHAV portal, a GIS-based tool for sustainable ocean governance.

Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon and Minister Asmund Aukrust attended the event, emphasizing global cooperation for ocean sustainability under the Indo-Norwegian Ocean Initiative.
