Israeli military kills Hezbollah commander in Lebanon airstrike

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Thursday confirmed the killing of Yassin Abdel Menam Ezz al-Din, a top Hezbollah commander in Lebanon, in an airstrike targeting the Barish area in southern Lebanon.

Ezz al-Din, described as the commander of Hezbollah’s artillery in the Litani sector, was reportedly responsible for multiple attacks on northern Israel during the current conflict. The IDF stated that he also played a key role in rebuilding Hezbollah’s artillery capabilities, which violated previous Israel-Lebanon agreements.

In a statement on X, the IDF said, “The terrorist’s actions were a clear breach of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF continues to monitor and thwart Hezbollah’s attempts to escalate hostilities under the cover of the broader war with Iran.”

Separately, Israeli forces demolished the home of Samer Hussein in the West Bank village of Einabus. Hussein carried out a shooting attack in November 2024 at the Gitti Avishar intersection in Ariel, injuring nine people, including four soldiers.

Hussein, affiliated with Hamas, had opened fire on a bus and a nearby bus stop. Despite no fatalities, the IDF justified the demolition as part of its deterrence strategy. “Even if no one is killed, unusual terrorist attacks will result in the demolition of the attacker’s home,” the IDF said.

The military reaffirmed its commitment to preventing further terrorism in Judea and Samaria and holding perpetrators accountable.
