Israeli PM Confirms Death of Senior Hezbollah Leader
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel has eliminated “thousands” of Hezbollah members, including Hashem Safieddine, who was expected to succeed the group’s slain leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
In a video message to the people of Lebanon, released by Netanyahu’s office on Tuesday, he called on them to “liberate” Lebanon from Hezbollah, blaming the group for the country’s ongoing financial crisis, according to Xinhua news agency.
“We’ve degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities, taking out thousands of terrorists, including Nasrallah, his successor, and his successor’s successor,” Netanyahu stated. “Today, Hezbollah is weaker than it has been in many years.”
He reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to continuing its campaign against Hezbollah.
