
Seeds shine as main draw action kicks off at ITF Juniors in Bengaluru
The main draw of the KSLTA ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors 2025 got underway on Monday at the SM Krishna Tennis Stadium and Sree Kanteerava Stadium with top seeds facing early tests in both singles and doubles categories.
In the boys’ singles Round of 32, top seed Om Patel survived a three-set battle to overcome Pranav Mahesh Saravanakumar 6-7(7), 6-4, 6-2. France’s Thomas Coppi also advanced in three sets against Sharan Somasi, while second seed Aditya Mor rallied past Shaurya Bhardwaj 5-7, 6-1, 6-4. Fifth seed Ojas Mehlawat eased to a 6-0, 6-3 win, and USA’s Nishith Rajesh upset eighth seed Daksh Kukreti 6-4, 6-4.
Girls’ singles saw dominant performances, with second seed Haritha Shree Venkatesh sweeping past Saumya Chatterjee 6-0, 6-0, and third seed Harsha Karthika Oruganti cruising 6-1, 6-1 against Jia Pandya. Fifth seed Aahan Aahan and sixth seed Saiyette Varadhar also progressed, while Sree Syleswari Velmanikandan and Meghana G.D. won tight encounters.
Doubles action added to the drama. In boys’ doubles, top seeds Ojas Mehlawat and Adhiraj Thakur progressed 6-4, 6-4, while second seeds Yashwin Dahiya and Aditya Mor advanced 6-0, 6-2. The girls’ doubles saw top seeds Aleena Farid and Angel Patel winning 7-5, 6-3, while second seeds Sanmitha Harini Lokesh and Deepshika Vinayagamurthy claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
With strong performances from seeded players and several upsets, the ITF Juniors Bengaluru 2025 promises a week of thrilling tennis as rising stars battle for glory.
