Liberal MPs Call for Trudeau’s Resignation Amidst Political Turmoil

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces mounting pressure as dissatisfaction grows within his own party, with several Liberal MPs publicly calling for his resignation. Long-time Liberal MP Sean Casey from Charlottetown stated, “People have had enough. They’ve tuned him out and they want him to go,” during an interview with CBC News.

Casey highlighted a “high level of anxiety” within the Liberal caucus about Trudeau’s leadership, noting that concerns are more widespread than previously acknowledged. Earlier, MP Ken McDonald also expressed doubts about Trudeau’s ability to lead the party.

Political analysts suggest this rising discontent signifies a significant shift in the Liberal Party, with MPs increasingly willing to voice their frustrations. Liberal strategist Andrew Perez noted, “The caucus is now flexing its muscles,” hinting at a potential turning point for Trudeau’s leadership.

As domestic criticisms mount, Trudeau’s government has faced accusations of using India as a political scapegoat. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has alleged that Trudeau’s administration is deliberately targeting India to divert attention from issues like foreign interference in Canadian politics. This comes ahead of Trudeau’s testimony before a commission on foreign interference, raising questions about his motivations.

The MEA emphasized that Trudeau’s approach aligns with an ongoing “deliberate strategy” to smear India for political gain, further complicating Canada’s diplomatic relations.
