Narendra Modi speaks with UAE President, agrees on keeping Strait of Hormuz safe

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday, focusing on the evolving security situation in West Asia and the need to ensure stability in the region.

During the discussion, both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining safe and free navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas shipments. The waterway remains critical for international energy supplies, and any disruption could have far-reaching economic consequences.

Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned recent attacks on the Gulf region, expressing concern over the rising tensions and their potential impact on regional peace and global markets. He reiterated India’s commitment to safeguarding stability and security in West Asia, given the region’s importance to India’s energy needs and trade routes.

The two leaders also agreed to continue close coordination and work together toward the early restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region. Their conversation comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions, with growing concerns over threats to energy infrastructure and maritime routes.

India has been actively engaging with key partners in the Gulf to ensure the safety of its economic interests and citizens, while advocating for dialogue and de-escalation.
