North Korea condemns US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites
North Korea has strongly condemned the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling the action a blatant violation of Iranian sovereignty and a serious breach of international law.
In a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), a spokesperson from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry criticized the United States for launching precision strikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear sites, saying the move trampled on the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign nation.
“The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea strongly denounces the US attack on Iran, which severely violated the UN Charter and posed a grave threat to regional peace,” the statement read.
The ministry further blamed Israel and the US for fueling tensions in the Middle East, describing the crisis as an “inevitable product” of Israel’s “reckless aggression.” North Korea urged the international community to collectively condemn what it called confrontational acts by the US and Israel.
North Korea and Iran share close ties and are both under international sanctions due to their nuclear and weapons programs. Pyongyang had earlier labeled Israel’s previous strikes on Iran as a “hideous act.”
Meanwhile, at an emergency session of the UN Security Council, the US defended its actions. Acting US Ambassador Dorothy Camille Shea said the strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan were meant to disable Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and uphold global security. She accused Iran of obstructing transparency and escalating regional threats.
Shea warned Iran against retaliating, reaffirming President Trump’s warning that any further Iranian aggression would invite overwhelming US response.
The strikes have sparked global concern, raising fears of a wider conflict in the region.
