Indian delegation highlights anti-terror stance in Congo

An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde met with members of the Indian community in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) on Tuesday, reaffirming India’s united stand against terrorism under the Operation Sindoor outreach.

The Indian Embassy in Kinshasa shared that the diaspora gave a warm welcome to the delegation. “Delegation interacted with the members of the Indian community and apprised them of Operation Sindoor and the new approach to fight cross-border terrorism,” it posted on X.

The visit to DR Congo is part of a four-nation diplomatic mission that includes the UAE, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The campaign aims to present India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and strengthen international partnerships on security issues.

Earlier in the day, the Indian MPs had productive discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, and also met Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, President of the Senate. These meetings underlined both countries’ shared commitment to global peace.

The delegation spotlighted Operation Sindoor as India’s strategic and calibrated response to cross-border terrorism, while also exposing Pakistan’s alleged involvement in fostering such activities.

Delegation members include MPs Bansuri Swaraj (BJP), ET Mohammed Basheer (IUML), Atul Garg (BJP), Sasmit Patra (BJD), Manan Kumar Mishra (BJP), S.S. Ahluwalia, and former diplomat Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

India’s outreach in DR Congo is seen as part of a broader effort to foster global cooperation and consensus in combating terrorism.
