Pakistani forces raid Baloch activist’s home, family threatened

Pakistani security forces have come under fire for allegedly conducting an unlawful raid on the home of Baloch activist Sahiba Baloch in Balochistan, further fueling concerns over ongoing repression in the region.

Sammi Deen Baloch, a member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), denounced the raid, calling it part of a “pattern of intimidation” by the Pakistani state against Baloch activists. “State forces once again chose intimidation over justice,” Sammi posted on X.

According to Sahiba, around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, members of Pakistan’s Federal Constabulary forcibly entered her family home without prior notice or legal grounds. “My father has already been forcibly disappeared for over three months, and now my family is being threatened simply because I speak out against human rights abuses,” Sahiba wrote on social media.

She called the incident part of a calculated campaign of collective punishment aimed at silencing dissent in Balochistan. “Every child here is raised with the hope of peace on our land. To attack this struggle is to attack that hope — and we will not allow it,” she stated.

Sahiba appealed to the international community and human rights bodies to take urgent action, demanding the release of her father and other detained activists.

In a separate incident, human rights group Paank reported another extrajudicial killing in Awaran district. Ghulam Jan, abducted on July 13 by a military-backed death squad, was later found dead with bullet wounds — the fifth such killing in the region within a month.

Paank condemned the “kill and dump” policy and held Pakistani military forces and their proxies accountable for ongoing war crimes in Balochistan.

Repeated reports point to a pattern of unlawful detentions, enforced disappearances, and targeted violence against Baloch civilians.
