PM Modi and PM Mitsotakis Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening India-Greece Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing the India-Greece Strategic Partnership following a recent phone call between the two leaders.
During their conversation, they explored avenues to boost bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, defense, shipping, and connectivity. The leaders noted the positive momentum in their bilateral relations, highlighting recent high-level exchanges and progress in initiatives aimed at improving maritime connectivity, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Saturday.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis extended his congratulations to PM Modi on his re-election in the June Lok Sabha polls, expressing optimism for the future of India-Greece relations.
PM Modi took to social media to share details of the discussion, stating, “Yesterday, I had a productive conversation with PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening the India-Greece Strategic Partnership. Together, we aim to deepen our collaboration across trade, defense, shipping, and connectivity. Greece is a valued partner for India within the EU as well.”
The leaders also reviewed advancements in various aspects of their cooperation, including trade and connectivity, building on discussions from PM Mitsotakis’ visit to India earlier this year.
The PMO statement noted that both leaders exchanged views on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and addressed regional and global issues, particularly developments in West Asia.
Earlier this year, PM Mitsotakis participated as the chief guest at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. During his visit, the leaders emphasized the significance of connectivity, particularly through maritime routes and partnerships like the IMEC, aiming to explore all possible options to strengthen these links.
