PM Modi, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić discuss expanding cooperation across sectors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, reviewing the full spectrum of India–Serbia relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two leaders discussed ways to deepen engagement across key sectors, including trade and investment, artificial intelligence, fintech, education, agriculture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. The meeting underscored the growing momentum in bilateral ties and the shared intent to expand collaboration in emerging technologies and innovation-driven sectors.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the leaders met to review and advance bilateral relations, reaffirming the long-standing friendship between the two countries. India and Serbia share historically warm ties, supported by strong people-to-people connections and mutual support in multilateral forums.

During their discussions, Prime Minister Modi and President Vučić also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The engagement highlighted the importance both sides attach to strengthening strategic and economic cooperation amid shifting global dynamics.

The meeting took place during the five-day India AI Impact Summit 2026, which has drawn participation from representatives of over 110 countries and 30 international organizations. The summit includes around 20 Heads of State or Government and nearly 45 ministers, making it one of the largest global gatherings focused on artificial intelligence.

The event aims to align AI initiatives with India’s national vision of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya” (welfare for all, happiness for all) and the broader global principle of “AI for Humanity.” It serves as a platform for deliberations on AI’s ethical, economic, and social implications, while also fostering international partnerships in digital technology and innovation.

The India AI Impact Summit 2026 is the fourth edition in the series, following earlier summits held in the United Kingdom (2023), South Korea (2024), and France (2025). Additional global leaders are expected to participate, reinforcing the summit’s emphasis on inclusive and collaborative AI-driven development.
