
Qatar’s Emir welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday during his two-day state visit to India. This marks his second visit to the country since March 2015, following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the formal reception, Sheikh Tamim and President Droupadi Murmu introduced their respective ministers and delegations at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Later in the day, the Emir is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Modi at Hyderabad House. The discussion will focus on strengthening ties between India and Qatar, covering key areas of mutual interest.
At 1:00 p.m., India and Qatar will exchange several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at Hyderabad House, highlighting deeper cooperation between the two nations.
In the evening, Sheikh Tamim will meet President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where she will host a banquet in his honor.
“India and Qatar share deep-rooted historical ties based on friendship, trust, and mutual respect. In recent years, relations between the two nations have strengthened across trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people ties,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in anticipation of the visit.
The Emir’s visit will conclude with his departure from India at 9:05 p.m.
In a warm gesture, Prime Minister Modi personally welcomed Sheikh Tamim at Palam Air Force Station on Monday evening. Their embrace reflected the strong and special relationship between India and Qatar.
The MEA posted on X, “A special gesture for a special friend! PM Modi welcomed HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar, at the airport, as he arrived in New Delhi on his second state visit to India. The visit will further strengthen the bonds of India-Qatar partnership.”
