Record-Breaking Heat Wave Sweeps Across the U.S.

An intense late-season heat wave is impacting various parts of the U.S., with record-breaking temperatures expected to persist into the weekend.

The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) announced on Friday that more than 70 record high temperatures are anticipated to be set, primarily in the southwestern U.S.

The heat wave is particularly strong in California and the Desert Southwest, as reported by Xinhua news agency. Forecasters indicate that this sweltering weather will bring moderate to extreme heat risks to numerous areas, with approximately 39 million people under heat alerts earlier this week.

The NWS has extended excessive heat warnings for regions near major cities, including Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.

Officials are urging the public to take necessary precautions while outdoors, such as staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks in shaded areas.
