Trump, Arab leaders sign landmark Gaza peace agreement in Egypt

US President Donald Trump, along with key Arab leaders, signed a historic peace agreement on Monday to end the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, marking a significant step toward regional stability. The signing ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, followed the release of all 20 Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Trump described the day as “incredible for the world, let alone the Middle East,” asserting that the agreement is “going to hold up” and calling it “the biggest, most complicated deal.” The summit saw the presence of more than 20 world leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

The peace agreement is based on Trump’s comprehensive 20-point plan for Gaza, which outlines the creation of a temporary technocratic government. Israel has pledged not to annex the Gaza Strip, while residents will not be forcibly displaced. The new governance structure will be overseen by the international “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump and members including former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Hamas members who commit to peace will receive amnesty, while others may be granted safe passage abroad. Security in Gaza will be monitored by regional and international forces, which will also train Palestinian police. Humanitarian aid and reconstruction funding will be provided under the agreement, with the US facilitating dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians to ensure long-term coexistence.

Egyptian President el-Sisi praised Trump for his central role in brokering the deal, calling it an unprecedented achievement. The peace agreement is expected to usher in a new phase of stability, reconstruction, and cooperation in Gaza, representing a historic milestone in the Middle East peace process.
