US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim of having “ended eight wars,” asserting during his State of the Union address that his intervention prevented a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said, “First ten months, I ended eight wars, including Cambodia and Thailand, Pakistan and India — we would have been in a nuclear war. Thirty-five million people said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died if it were not for my involvement.”

His remarks referenced India’s Operation Sindoor, launched against terror infrastructure, and echoed earlier statements by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had reportedly claimed that millions of Pakistanis could have died without US intervention.

Trump also listed several other conflicts he said his administration helped resolve, including Kosovo and Serbia, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, Congo and Rwanda, and the war in Gaza.

‘Turnaround for the ages’

Describing his first year of his second term as transformative, Trump told lawmakers that the United States had witnessed “a transformation like no one has ever seen before.”

“Tonight, after just one year, I can say with dignity and pride that we have achieved a turnaround for the ages,” he said, adding that the country would “never go back” to previous policies.

Invoking America’s founding principles, Trump said the current generation must step forward to defend “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” pledging to prioritise hardworking citizens and ensure that government answers to the people.

Economy, housing and healthcare

On economic policy, Trump predicted sustained growth, claiming that factories, jobs and trillions of dollars in investments would continue flowing into the US because of his “America First” approach. He sharply criticised prior administrations, alleging economic mismanagement.

The President also highlighted efforts to lower prescription drug prices, asserting that previous leaders had failed where he had succeeded. On housing, he referenced an executive order banning large Wall Street firms from purchasing single-family homes in bulk and urged Congress to make the measure permanent, declaring that “homes are for people, not corporations.”

Border security and foreign policy

Trump accused Democrats of cutting funding for the Department of Homeland Security and demanded immediate restoration of border security funding. He vowed to confront threats to America while pursuing peace where possible.

Reaffirming his commitment to restoring US influence in the Western Hemisphere, he pointed to cartel violence in parts of Mexico and pledged decisive action.

Closing on a patriotic note, Trump declared that the spirit of the 1776 Revolution “still burns in the hearts of every American patriot,” framing his leadership as part of an ongoing national mission.
