Trump Claims Reelection Would Trigger ‘Mass Exodus’ of Manufacturing Back to the US from South Korea and Other Nations
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump stated that a vote for him in November would result in a “mass exodus of manufacturing” to America from countries like South Korea and China. He made these comments during a campaign speech on tax policy in Savannah, Georgia, as polls indicate a competitive race against his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, with the general election approaching in less than six weeks, according to Yonhap news agency.
“Vote for Trump, and you’ll witness manufacturing move from China to Pennsylvania, from Korea to North Carolina, and from Germany right here to Georgia,” he asserted, emphasizing that manufacturers would relocate to Georgia from various nations.
Trump also announced plans to create a “manufacturing ambassador” position to promote “pro-manufacturing” policies if he is reelected. “I will appoint a manufacturing ambassador whose sole job will be to travel the world and persuade major manufacturers to return to America,” he stated.
In his speech, he criticized Harris, dubbing her the “tax queen” and accusing her of advocating for the largest capital gains tax in American history. “It’s called an unrealized capital gain, meaning you’ll pay a capital gain even if you haven’t realized it,” he explained.
Policymakers in South Korea and elsewhere are closely monitoring the candidates’ statements, as a change in leadership in Washington could significantly impact U.S. trade and diplomatic policies.
