Trump says Iran war nearing end

US President Donald Trump said the ongoing military campaign against Iran could end within days, claiming that the United States and Israel are “winning very decisively” after a series of large-scale strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.

Speaking during a press conference at Trump National Doral Miami, the president described the joint operation — named Operation Epic Fury — as one of the most extensive military campaigns in recent years.

“Over the past nine days, we’ve carried out some of the most powerful and complex military strikes and maneuvers the world has ever seen,” Trump said.

According to the president, the campaign has significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities, including its naval fleet, missile launch systems, and drone infrastructure.

Trump claimed that nearly 50 Iranian naval vessels had been destroyed during the operation.

“We’ve wiped every single force in Iran out very completely. Most of Iran’s naval power has been sunk. It’s at the bottom of the sea,” he said.

He later added that the number of vessels destroyed had reached 51.

The president also stated that Iran’s missile capacity had been severely reduced as a result of sustained air and naval strikes.

“Their missile capability is down to about 10 percent, maybe less,” Trump said.

He added that US forces are now targeting Iranian drone production facilities across the country.

“We know all of the places they manufacture the drones, and they’re being hit one after another,” he said.

Trump said the US-led campaign has struck more than 5,000 targets, including missile launchers, weapons depots, and production sites.

“Our B-2 bombers recently dropped dozens of 2,000-pound bombs to destroy missile launchers all over Iran and buried deep under Iranian soil,” he said.

The president also argued that the military operations prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, referring to earlier strikes conducted under Operation Midnight Hammer.

“If we didn’t knock out Midnight Hammer… they would have had a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.

Trump also warned Iran against threatening international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.

“The Strait of Hormuz is going to remain safe. If Iran does anything to do that, they’ll get hit at a much, much harder level,” he said.

To stabilize global shipping, Trump announced that the United States would provide political risk insurance for commercial tankers operating in the Gulf region during the ongoing conflict.

When asked how long the military campaign might continue, the president suggested that the conflict could conclude soon.

“Days, I think soon,” Trump said when asked whether the war might end within the week.

Trump also revealed that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day, discussing developments in Ukraine and the Middle East.

During the press conference, Trump acknowledged reports that eight US military personnel had died in connection with the conflict.

He said families of the fallen soldiers had encouraged him to continue the operation until its objectives were completed.

“They said to me one thing, every single one — finish the job, sir, please finish the job,” Trump said.

The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, handles nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, making any disruption in the region a major concern for global energy markets.
