Turkey to continue working with Indonesia on Gaza reconstruction: Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that Turkey will continue its cooperation with Indonesia in rebuilding Gaza and supporting the Palestinian cause. His remarks came during a joint press conference with visiting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, following a bilateral meeting in Ankara.

“We appreciate Indonesia’s stance on the Palestinian issue. In the forthcoming period, we will continue working with Indonesia to rebuild Gaza and advocate for the Palestinian cause,” Erdogan stated, according to a release from the Turkish Presidency.

On strengthening bilateral ties, Erdogan said the two nations have agreed to initiate new cooperative efforts in sectors such as defense, construction, healthcare, energy, and the food industry.

The leaders also discussed increasing bilateral trade to reach their mutual target of $10 billion, aiming for a balanced and mutually beneficial approach. Agreements were signed covering culture, disaster and emergency management, and communication, Xinhua news agency reported.

“We remain in cooperation with Indonesia in all international platforms,” Erdogan added.

Earlier in the day, Subianto addressed the Turkish parliament, highlighting the long-standing solidarity between Turkey and Indonesia. He reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to working with Turkey in defending Palestinian rights and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

According to Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, President Subianto will also participate in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which runs from Friday to Sunday in the Turkish city of Antalya.
