Twin Road Accidents Claim 6 Lives, Injure 8 in Afghanistan

At least six people have died and eight others were injured in two separate road accidents in Afghanistan’s eastern Wardak province and western Herat province, officials reported on Saturday.

The incidents occurred on Friday evening. In Wardak’s Saidabad district, three people lost their lives and seven others, including women and children, sustained injuries when a car overturned on the highway connecting Kabul to Kandahar province. Mohammad Yosuf Asrar, spokesman for the provincial police, stated that the injured individuals were hospitalized and in critical condition.

A similar accident on the Islam Qala highway in Herat province resulted in three fatalities at the scene and one injury, according to provincial police.

Local authorities noted that such accidents in Afghanistan are often attributed to poor road conditions, reckless driving, and insufficient safety measures during travel.
