Voll, Flintoff get first CA contracts

Rising stars Georgia Voll and Tess Flintoff have been awarded their first Cricket Australia (CA) central contracts, while seasoned all-rounder Jess Jonassen has missed out on the 18-player list for the 2025–26 season.

Voll, the 21-year-old top-order batter, has had a breakout year, capped by a stunning ODI century and being named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March. After debuting in all formats during the 2024–25 summer, Voll now earns a full national contract for the first time.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder Tess Flintoff has been rewarded for consistent performances with Australia A, including a standout series against England A. Though uncapped at the senior level, she has remained firmly on selectors’ radar, having been part of Australia’s ODI squad in Ireland in 2023. Flintoff also holds the record for the fastest half-century in WBBL history, smashing a 16-ball fifty for the Melbourne Stars in 2022.

CA selector Shawn Flegler praised both newcomers and acknowledged that Jonassen, despite being omitted, remains in contention for future selections.

“Tess is an exciting young player who we see having a long future in green and gold. She adds valuable depth to our pace stocks,” Flegler said. “Georgia has had a sensational start to her international career, stepping up at the top of the order and adapting across all formats with great composure.”

On Jonassen’s omission, Flegler added, “While Jess hasn’t been included on this year’s list, we’re always watching players outside the contract group—she is certainly no exception.”

Jonassen, a veteran with 244 international wickets since her debut in 2012, last played for Australia in October 2023 and was part of a squad earlier in 2024. Her exclusion marks a significant shift, given her consistent domestic form and World Cup-winning pedigree.

Australia’s contracted women’s players for 2025–26: Darcie Brown, Tess Flintoff, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Heather Graham, Grace Harris, Alyssa Healy, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Tayla Vlaeminck, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham.
