Young Indian professional’s networking initiative makes big impact in New England

Neeharika Munjal, Founder and CEO of Young Indian Professionals of New England (YIPNE) and Administrative Supervisor at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of New England, has made significant strides in connecting young Indian professionals in the region. After graduating early from Boston University in January 2022, Munjal found herself uncertain about navigating the professional world. Despite securing a position in healthcare management at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, she struggled with networking due to limited real-world experience.

Munjal’s background provided her with a strong support system from her well-connected parents, yet she felt the need to establish her own network and engage with like-minded individuals. Her search for Indian professional networking groups in the New England area proved fruitless, as there were no active platforms catering to young Indian professionals.
As an American-born Indian, Munjal has always valued maintaining her cultural roots, despite facing perceptions of being less authentic due to her American upbringing. Although she was involved in various cultural and charity organizations, she noticed a gap in professional networking opportunities for the youth. Motivated by a conversation with her mother, Munjal decided to address this gap and launched YIPNE on April 12, 2022.

Starting with modest expectations, Munjal’s vision for YIPNE quickly surpassed her initial goals. The organization has grown to over 6,500 members in just two years. YIPNE has achieved numerous milestones, including the creation of a board of advisors with notable Boston Indian community figures, media coverage from outlets like the Boston Globe and News India Abroad, and recognition by the US Senate.

The organization has hosted various events, from small gatherings to large networking functions, and launched a YouTube Talk Series highlighting community success stories. YIPNE also introduced the South Asian Small Business Saturday initiative and collaborated with local organizations and student conferences.

On May 19, 2024, YIPNE celebrated its second anniversary with a sold-out event featuring a high-end networking experience for young professionals in the Boston Indian community. The organization’s growth and impact demonstrate Munjal’s dedication to elevating professional networking for young Indian professionals in New England.
