The Indiana Chapter of Akshaya Patra USA hosted a musical fundraiser on September 26, at the Indian American Cultural Center in Merrillville, bringing together community members, supporters and friends for an evening centered on music, fellowship and philanthropy.
The program opened with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Indiana Chapter Chairs Dr. Ravi Bhagwat and Dr. Saket Sinha, joined by Saroj Patel, Co-Chair of the Akshaya Patra Chicago Chapter.
“Tonight is a reminder of what we can accomplish when a community comes together with compassion and purpose,” said Dr. Bhagwat and Dr. Sinha. “Every contribution, large or small, has the potential to give a child nourishment, opportunity, and hope for a brighter future.”
Longtime supporters spoke about their personal connections with Akshaya Patra and encouraged attendees to continue supporting its programs for children.
Dr. Sinha also shared a message from longtime supporter Dr. Chittaranjan Patel, who was unable to attend. Rajiv Khanna and other supporters also extended their best wishes and reaffirmed their continued commitment to the organization.
Prachi Jaitly, Development Director, Midwest, Akshaya Patra USA, highlighted recent organizational milestones and expressed appreciation for the Indiana community’s continued support.
A pledge drive provided attendees with an opportunity to contribute to Akshaya Patra’s work. The evening also featured music, creating a festive atmosphere that eventually drew guests to the dance floor.
The fundraiser concluded with appreciation for the community members and supporters whose contributions will help Akshaya Patra provide meals and educational support to children.
The evening brought together philanthropy, music and community spirit, highlighting how collective support can help advance the organization’s mission while creating meaningful connections within the community.
