More than 300 community leaders, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, volunteers and supporters gathered in Hopkins for the Akshaya Patra Minnesota Chapter’s annual musical fundraiser, supporting the organization’s efforts to provide school meals to children in India.

The evening combined music, dinner and community engagement with presentations about Akshaya Patra’s work connecting nutrition with education. Chapter Chairs Kavita Reddy and Ishita Gawde welcomed guests and thanked the Minnesota community for its continued support. Chapter Chair Mona Tirukavalluri also recognized volunteers and supporters who contributed to the event.

Keynote speakers Neha Markanda and Raj Dash spoke about leadership, philanthropy and the relationship between food and education. Markanda emphasized that adequate nutrition is essential for children to benefit from education, while Dash shared reflections on growing up in a family with a tradition of philanthropy and the responsibility of giving back.

Longtime supporter Charu Mehta spoke about philanthropy, legacy and the lasting impact of giving. Entrepreneur Mahendra Nath also addressed the importance of investing in children’s futures.

Dr. Dilip Mehta of Akshaya Patra presented the organization’s Forever Plate Sustainability Fund, an initiative focused on creating long-term support for its school meal programs.

The evening also featured live music by a band from Tampa, Florida, led by Sanjay Vasita and Pratyasha Dash and team, bringing guests together through music and entertainment.

The fundraiser provided an opportunity for supporters to learn more about Akshaya Patra’s work while contributing to its mission of helping children receive nutritious meals alongside access to education.

The event concluded with dinner, fellowship and recognition of guests and supporters who have contributed to the organization’s work in Minnesota.
