Hari Om Mandir, Chicago, celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with great devotion, joy and enthusiasm. Hundreds of devotees, families and children from Chicago and surrounding suburbs gathered at the temple to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna.

At the beginning of the celebration, Chairman Brij Sharma and President Vipin Wadhera welcomed the devotees and extended their greetings and congratulations to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.

Divine Jhanki and Bhajan Sandhya

A beautifully decorated Jhanki of Lord Krishna was one of the major attractions of the celebration. The temple was adorned with flowers and lights, creating a festive and devotional atmosphere.

The evening featured soulful bhajans and devotional songs, with devotees joining in singing and celebrating the divine birth of Lord Krishna.

Cultural performances by children

Children participating in Hari Om Mandir’s cultural classes presented colorful and devotional performances, including Raas Leela, Radha-Krishna dances and bhajans. Their performances reflected a beautiful blend of devotion, Indian culture and tradition.

The children’s participation added a special charm to the celebration, with families and devotees enthusiastically appreciating their performances.

Midnight Krishna Janma celebration

As midnight approached, devotees gathered to mark the divine birth of Lord Krishna. The atmosphere resonated with chants of “Nand Ghar Anand Bhayo” and “Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki,” as devotees celebrated the arrival of Bal Gopal with great enthusiasm.

The traditional Maha Abhishek and Matki Phod ceremony were also performed. A young child dressed as Lord Krishna participated in the Matki Phod ceremony, delighting the devotees gathered for the celebration.

More than 200 people attended the midnight festivities. Volunteers including Ashok Sharma, Ramesh Bhardwaj, Nitin Sharma, Priya, Sonam and Aarti Kapoor contributed their time and efforts to help organize and conduct the program smoothly.

The celebration concluded with Maha Abhishek and Aarti, followed by the distribution of Bhog and Prasad to all devotees.

The Janmashtami celebration at Hari Om Mandir provided devotees and families with an opportunity to come together in faith and devotion while passing the timeless teachings and traditions associated with Lord Krishna to the younger generation.
