Marking the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2026, the Embassy of India, Washington D.C., in coordination with the Consulate of India in Washington, hosted a solemn exhibition titled “The Human Cost of Terrorism” on Capitol Hill.
The exhibition honored the memory of innocent victims of the attack and highlighted the devastating human impact of terrorism through curated displays, survivor narratives, and visual documentation. It underscored the broader global consequences of extremist violence and the need for sustained international cooperation to address the threat.
According to a press note issued by the Consulate of India in Washington, the event was attended by 19 Members of the United States Congress, along with Administration officials, diaspora leaders, and other U.S. partners. Their participation, the statement noted, reflected a shared resolve to strengthen the counterterrorism partnership between India and the United States and to stand united in the global fight against terrorism “in all its forms and manifestations.”
Lawmakers from both major political parties expressed solidarity with India and reiterated support for a coordinated global approach to counterterrorism. Several members emphasized the importance of deepening security cooperation between Washington and New Delhi, while also calling for accountability for perpetrators of cross-border terrorism.
The exhibition is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach aimed at raising awareness of terrorism’s human toll and reinforcing international partnerships to combat extremist violence worldwide.
