Raja Krishnamoorthi has been appointed Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Subcommittee on the National Intelligence Enterprise, a major leadership role overseeing several of the nation’s top intelligence and national security agencies.

Krishnamoorthi, a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, will help oversee the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), FBI intelligence operations, the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, the Treasury Department’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, and intelligence divisions operating across the federal government.

In his new position, the Illinois Congressman said he would focus on strengthening national security oversight while protecting constitutional freedoms and civil liberties.

“As Ranking Member of the National Intelligence Enterprise Subcommittee, I will work to ensure our intelligence agencies are prepared to confront the growing threats posed by foreign adversaries, cyberattacks, espionage, terrorism, and transnational criminal organizations,” Krishnamoorthi stated.

He also emphasized the importance of congressional oversight and accountability in intelligence operations.

“Congress has a responsibility to conduct rigorous oversight of the Trump Administration, strengthen our national security capabilities, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent effectively and responsibly,” he said. “At the same time, we must safeguard the constitutional rights and civil liberties that define our democracy.”

The appointment places Krishnamoorthi in a prominent role within Congress at a time when national security concerns, cybersecurity threats, global geopolitical tensions, and foreign intelligence activities continue to remain central issues in Washington.

Krishnamoorthi has previously been active on issues involving technology security, international affairs, economic competitiveness, and oversight investigations. His leadership role is expected to further elevate his influence on intelligence and national security policy debates in Congress.
