Chicago Consulate to bring community service to Seva Pakhwada

The Consulate General of India in Chicago will observe Seva Pakhwada 2026 on Sunday, September 20, bringing together blood donation, environmental service and community engagement at National India Hub in Schaumburg.

Organized in association with National India Hub, the program will be held at 930 National Parkway, Schaumburg, IL 60173, under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”

The centerpiece of the morning will be a blood donation camp from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., giving members of the Indian-American community and friends of India an opportunity to participate in a life-saving community service initiative.

The program will also feature “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” a tree-plantation campaign aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging community participation in creating a greener and more sustainable future.

A significant part of the event will be the first community interaction with Consul General of India Dr. M. Anand Prakash, who recently arrived in Chicago. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dr. Prakash will meet with community leaders and representatives of the Indian diaspora, providing an opportunity for dialogue and engagement on issues of interest to the community.

The interaction will be followed by refreshments.

The Consulate has invited members of the Indian diaspora, community organizations and friends of India to participate in the Seva Pakhwada activities and make the day a meaningful expression of community service.

The initiative combines three dimensions of Seva—service to people, service to the environment and service through community engagement. The blood donation drive can help save lives, while the tree-plantation campaign underscores the importance of environmental stewardship.

The Consulate and National India Hub are encouraging broad community participation in the September 20 program, emphasizing the spirit of Seva, compassion and collective responsibility.
