The United Senior Pariwar of Chicago (USPC) marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 18th anniversary of service to the Indian senior community while also honoring mothers during a special Mother’s Day program held on May 17, 2026.

Founded nearly two decades ago by visionary community leader Ramanbhai Patel, former President of USPC, along with a dedicated group of volunteers, the organization was established to address the social and emotional needs of senior citizens within the Indian-American community. Many first-generation immigrants who arrived in the United States during the 1970s and 1980s worked tirelessly to build successful lives and provide opportunities for their children. As those children grew into successful professionals and started families of their own, many seniors found themselves seeking companionship and meaningful social engagement.

Today, USPC has grown into a thriving organization with 371 members, providing a vibrant platform for fellowship, cultural activities, education, and community connection.

The Mother’s Day celebration began with a traditional Deep Pragatya (Lamp Lighting Ceremony), performed by Rameshbhai Chokshi, Virendrabhai Patel, Bhanubhai Vyas, Kanubhai Patel, Pradumnabhai Pathak, Smitaben Pathak, and Manubhai Patel. The ceremony was accompanied by sacred Vedic mantras recited by Kiritbhai Pandya, creating a spiritual and uplifting atmosphere.

USPC President Rameshbhai Chokshi and Operating Branch Advisor Virendrabhai Patel welcomed members and provided updates regarding the organization’s upcoming Annual Program scheduled for June 13, 2026.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was an inspiring performance by young Krishiv Gupta, son of Varunbhai and Sivaniben Gupta. Displaying remarkable confidence and devotion, Krishiv captivated the audience with his recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, earning enthusiastic applause and admiration from members. His performance added a special spiritual touch to the celebration and became one of the most memorable moments of the event.

Senior member Pradumnabhai Pathak, known for his extensive knowledge and engaging speaking style, delivered an informative presentation on the importance of Mother’s Day. He also shared fascinating historical insights about the United States, which were appreciated by the audience.

During a brief intermission, members enjoyed Havmor ice cream, generously sponsored by Pradumnabhai Pathak and Smitaben Pathak.

The cultural segment of the program featured entertaining performances by Jyosanaben Chokshi, Dipeshbhai Modi, Smitaben Sutaria, and Neetaben Shah, whose talents added joy and energy to the gathering.

Continuing a cherished USPC tradition, members celebrating birthdays in the month of May were recognized with a special birthday celebration. Guests joined together in singing birthday songs, distributing sweets, and presenting gifts to the celebrants while extending wishes for good health, happiness, and prosperity.

On behalf of the organization, Kiritbhai Pandya expressed sincere appreciation to the Swaminarayan Temple for its continued support and cooperation, which has helped make many USPC programs successful over the years.

The event concluded with a delicious vegetarian lunch enjoyed by members and guests, providing an opportunity for fellowship and social interaction. As participants departed, many expressed excitement about reconnecting at the organization’s annual June gathering.
